Description

The Philippe Bouzereau Meursault "Les Grands Charrons" is a high-end white wine from the Burgundy region of France, specifically from a vineyard site just below the Premier Cru band. Produced by Domaine Philippe Bouzereau, the wine is a classic expression of Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune.

A wonderful expression of a very fine Meursault, generous and concentrated with a nutty richness and delicate floral notes, underpinned by complex nuances of spice and a touch of vanilla. Smooth and creamy with beautiful balance and an impressively long, elegant finish.

"Les Grands Charrons" is a lieu-dit (specifically named vineyard) in Meursault. While not a Premier Cru, it is highly regarded for its quality.

Terroir: The vineyard features limestone-rich soil with a stony surface, which contributes to the wine's characteristic minerality.

Vines: Sourced from a small 0.95-hectare parcel with vines aged between 35 and 60 years.

Ripe yellow apple, white peach, toasted hazelnut, and fresh butter, alongside delicate hints of vanilla bean, citrus zest, and flinty minerality. The palate is rich and creamy yet balanced by vibrant acidity and a textured mouthfeel. Flavours of apricot, almond, honeycomb, and a subtle smoky note.

Food matching

Grilled artichokes with lemon aioli or cauliflower gratin with Gruyère also work beautifully.
