ETIENNE SAUZET PULIGNY MONTRACHET 1ER CRU CHAMP GAIN

The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Champs Gain 1er Cru has quite a sensual nose for a Puligny, with touches of orange pith and lemon verbena emerging with time in the glass. Fine delineation. The palate is well balanced, very elegant in style, refined and almost understated. I appreciate the harmony of this Champs Gain…quite "sleek" with a prickle of spice towards the finish. Excellent.

Overt, expressive and strikingly pure, this starts with sliced peaches and spiced pear cobbler. It’s impressively fruit driven for the rainy, cloudy vintage. The satiny palate delivers a creamy sensation through the extended finish. These vines sit in a thin cover of clay over the bedrock.
